Created to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the artist’s diagnosis, treatment, and remission from brain cancer, these collages contemplate the brokenness and betrayal of the US healthcare system through an intensely personal lens. Combining the artist’s own scans with homemade paper crafted from personal medical documents, these pieces envision how tears and decay give way to repair and renewal in an endless cycle of scars, which disproportionately impacts our most vulnerable.
