Soft Bound is a series of new works by Helena Goñi that merge shibari, the Japanese art of rope bondage, with cyanotype. In this series, garments are coated with light-sensitive emulsion, tied in shibari on the body, and exposed to sunlight. The resulting objects bear both the traces of rope and the folds of flesh, transforming fabric into a photographic surface and record of touch.
