Pushing the Frame: Willful Transgressions
March 8, 2026 — April 26, 2026

Prisca Choe is a visual artist and cultural worker based between New York City and Philadelphia. Her interdisciplinary practice spans film, photography, plexiglass installations, and wearable sculptures, moving through the extremes of rage and wonder to explore the tension between preserving and transforming culture for women and queer people in the Asian diaspora. Drawing from traditional Korean craft, stained-glass windows, the magic of hair, and a lifelong love of light shaped by her Quaker roots, Choe’s work expands collective memory and questions which stories are granted reverence. Her work has been commissioned by Lincoln Center, Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, the Wing Luke Museum, and the Asian Art Museum, and presented at the Pennsylvania Governor’s Advisory Commission on AAPI Affairs and the National Museum of Asian Art. She also served on the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Community Advisory Group for The Shape of Time: Korean Art after 1989.
