Pushing the Frame: Willful Transgressions
March 8, 2026 — April 26, 2026
Carol Priego (She/her, b. Spain) is a visual artist, researcher, and mediator. Her work examines how images shape power—producing visibility, erasure, and shared imaginaries across communities and landscapes. She uses images to challenge political dynamics of opposition, opening spaces for reconciliation and dialogue. Her practice combines analog, digital, and experimental photography with archival research and collaborative methodologies. In 2023, she led the prison-based project Amares Azielos, which resulted in a collectively authored photobook awarded an ADG Laus in 2024. Her work has been presented in New York, Spain, Tunisia, Indonesia, and Canada. Currently a Fulbright Scholar in the United States, she is pursuing a transatlantic research project on Opuntia ficus-indica as a mediator of ecological and political histories between the Mediterranean, the US, and Mexico.
